Jay Kristoff nació en Perth, Australia, y actualmente reside en Melbourne. En 2019 se realizó una miniserie en YouTube basada en la trilogía. En la actualidad está inmerso en la escritura de su nueva trilogía fantástica, cuyo primer tomo es El imperio del vampiro (Nocturna, 2022). Sus libros se han publicado en más de veinticinco países.
