Meg Rosoff (Boston, Massachusetts, 1956), aunque fue castigada en la guardería por usar sólo pintura negra, no se desanimó y fue a la universidad de Harvard. Después de tres años en esa Universidad, se trasladó a Londres en 1977 a estudiar escultura. Regresó a los Estados Unidos en 1980 y trabajó en Nueva York durante nueve años en publicidad.
