Mrs. Copperfield visits Panama with her husband, where she finds solace among the women who live and work in its brothels. Miss Goering becomes involved with various men. At the end the two women meet again, each transformed by her experience.

El matrimonio llevó una existencia nómada viviendo esporádicamente en Europa, Centroamérica, México y Ceilán, antes de instalarse en Tánger en 1947. Es autora del libro de relatos x{0026}lt;em Placeres sencillosx{0026}lt;/em y una obra de teatro, x{0026}lt;em En el cenadorx{0026}lt;/em . En 1957 sufrió una hemorragia cerebral que le impidió prácticamente volver a leer y escribir; murió en Málaga en 1973.x{0026}lt;/p
