When Mrs Ramsay tells her guests at her summer house on the Isle of Skye that they will be able to visit the nearby lighthouse the following day, little does she know that this trip will only be completed ten years later by her husband, and that a gulf of war, grief and loss will have opened in the meantime. As each character tries to readjust their memories and emotions with the shifts of time and reality, this long-delayed excursion will also prove to be a journey of self-discovery and fulfilment for them. x{0026}lt;p Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), nacida Adeline Virginia Stephen, fue una novelista, ensayista y feminista inglesa. De salud frágil desde joven, comenzó a escribir un diario a los quince años, combinando esta actividad con numerosas lecturas y con estudios de historia y griego en el Kingx{0026} x02019;s College.x{0026}lt;/p x{0026}lt;p A partir de 1904, inició su carrera como escritora publicando artículos y reseñas en The Guardian. Por aquellos años, la casa familiar se convirtió en un punto de encuentro para intelectuales, entre los que conoció a su futuro marido, Leonard Woolf. Juntos fundaron en 1917 la prestigiosa editorial The Hogarth Press, sello fundamental en la difusión de la literatura modernista.
