P B Mavis Gallant /B (Montreal 1922 - París 2014) fue una de las grandes señoras de la literatura canadiense. En su juventud se dedicó al periodismo, pero en 1950 tomó la decisión de dejar un trabajo seguro y transferirse a París para vivir solo de la escritura.<br> P A los veintisiete años, poco antes de viajar a Francia, envió su primer cuento al prestigioso I The New Yorker /I , lo que le abrió las puertas para trabajar como colaboradora de la revista.
