Biografía del autor

Martin Gilbert fue uno de los historiadores más distinguidos del siglo XX. Nació en Londres en 1936, estudió en la Highgate School y estuvo dos años en el ejército como soldado. Se graduó en Historia Moderna en 1960 y fue ayudante de investigación de Randolph Churchill, a quien sucedió como biógrafo oficial de sir Winston S. Churchill, escribiendo seis de los ocho volúmenes de su biografía. Entre sus otras obras figuran The Holocaust (1990), In Search of Churchill (1994),The Day the War Ended (1995) y La primera guerra mundial y La Segunda Guerra Mundial, estos últimos publicados con éxito por esta editorial en España. Murió en Londres el 3 de febrero de 2015.
