After fearlessly ferrying Hurricanes and Spitfires in World War II, Tamara moves to the most westerly tip of Ireland to begin an intense affair with Niall, a charismatic Irishman. Niall is one of two brothers and on an emotionally charged night he shares with Tamara the story of Kieran, who mysteriously disappeared after an epic bicycle race that pitted the two brothers against each other. Niall has, ever since, been searching for Kieran in the hope that he can make amends for the choices that lead to their separation.

As Tamara's story becomes intertwined with the brothers' heartbreaking history - including Kieran's troubled childhood and the tragedy that separated him from his family as a young boy - she starts to question the circumstances that brought her to Ireland after the war, as well as the future she might hope to have with the increasingly despondent Niall.
