Moominpappa weaves one fabulous tale after another, writing at night to read aloud by day and featuring not only the fearless, adventurous author but also the fathers of Sniff and Snufkin - the rather muddled Muddler and the carefree Joxter. Add to this mix the genius inventor Hodgkins and a grand finale in which Moominpappa rescues a shipwrecked Moominmamma from the waves and the fun becomes irresistible.

The Memoirs of Moominpappa, was first published in the UK in 1950 under the title The Exploits of Moominpapa. In the early 1960s Tove Jansson substantially revised this text, redrawing pictures and reinstating her preferred title. This is the very first time the revised edition has become available in the UK.

Biografía del autor

Tove Jansson (Helsinki 1914-2001) nació en el seno de una familia de artistas pertenecientes a la minoría finlandesa de habla sueca. De padre escultor y madre ilustradora, estudió pintura en Estocolmo y posteriormente en París. Al volver a Finlandia, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, ejerció como historietista satírica de clara voluntad antifascista. Famosa mundialmente por sus libros infantiles x{0026} x02014;en 1966 obtuvo el Premio Hans Christian Andersen por el conjunto de su obra dedicada al público infantilx{0026} x02014;, en la década de los setenta comenzó a publicar también textos destinados a los lectores adultos, entre los que se incluyen Juego limpio y El libro del verano, publicado en esta misma colección. En 1992 recibió el Premio Literario Selma Lagerlöf, que celebra la trayectoria de un escritor en idioma sueco.
