Secretly hoping to meet the beautiful woman who occasionally smokes on his street, he instead sets eyes on octogenarian Madeleine. She's happy to become the subject of his project, but first she needs to put her shopping away...

Wondering if his project is doomed to be hopelessly banal, he soon finds himself tangled in the lives of Madeleine's family.

Though calm on the surface, the Martins have secrets, troubles and woes, and the writer discovers that the most compelling story is that of an ordinary life.

x{0026}lt;P x{0026}lt;B David Foenkinosx{0026}lt;/B nació en París en 1974. Licenciado en Letras por la Universidad de la Sorbona, recibió también una sólida formación como músico de jazz. Entre sus novelas, acogidas con entusiasmo por los lectores y la crítica en todo el mundo y traducidas a muchos idiomas, destacan x{0026}lt;I El potencial erótico de mi mujerx{0026}lt;/I (Premio Roger-Nimier 2004), x{0026}lt;I En caso de felicidad x{0026}lt;/I (2005), x{0026}lt;I Los recuerdos x{0026}lt;/I (2011), x{0026}lt;I Estoy mucho mejor x{0026}lt;/I (2013) y, sobre todo,x{0026}lt;I La delicadezax{0026}lt;/I (2009), que fue merecededora de diez galardones y finalista de los premios literarios más prestigiosos en Francia, como el Goncourt, el Renaudot, el Médicis, el Femina o el Interallié, y que posteriormente fue llevada al cine por el propio autor y su hermano Stéphane. En 2010, Foenkinos, melómano y fan incondicional de John Lennon, decidió publicar una singular biografía novelada, x{0026}lt;I Lennonx{0026}lt;/I , con la que Alfaguara inició en 2014 la publicación de su obra. En 2015 fue galardonado con los prestigiosos premios Renaudot y Goncourt des lycéens por x{0026}lt;I Charlotte x{0026}lt;/I (Alfaguara, 2018), un libro único que rescató del olvido a la pintora Charlotte Salomon.
