Pasó su infancia en La Haya, Buenos Aires y Lima, y a los catorce años se estableció en Santiago de Chile. x{0026}lt;em La Antártica empieza aquí,x{0026}lt;/em su primer libro de cuentos, fue publicado en México, donde ganó el Premio Caza de Letras 2009, concedido por la Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM) y la editorial Alfaguara. En Chile apareció en 2012, y un año más tarde se alzó con el Premio Municipal de Santiago. Su segundo libro, x{0026}lt;em Después de la luz,x{0026}lt;/em publicado en 2016 por la editorial Hueders, consta de una serie de notas cientíx{0026} x0FB01;cas, x{0026} x0FB01;losóx{0026} x0FB01;cas e históricas sobre el vacío, escritas tras una profunda crisis personal. Su tercer libro, x{0026}lt;strong x{0026}lt;em Un verdor terriblex{0026}lt;/em x{0026}lt;/strong x{0026}lt;em ,x{0026}lt;/em traducido a 22 idiomas, se ha convertido en un éxito internacional; ha quedado finalista del premio Man Booker y del National Book Award en la categoría de mejor libro traducido al inglés.
