Biografía del autor

p (Lyon, 1900 - mar Mediterráneo, 1944)<br> p Escritor, aviador e ilustrador de El Principito . Nació en Lyon y se crio en el entorno de una familia aristocrática. Tras ser rechazado en la escuela naval, se hizo piloto y trabajó para la Aéropostale, una empresa de correo aéreo que operaba en África y Sudamérica. En aquella época vivió experiencias extremas que le inspiraron obras como Correo del Sur (1929), Vuelo nocturno (1931) y Tierra de hombres (1939), donde se refleja su pasión por la aviación y se abordan temas como el sacrificio, la solidaridad y el humanismo. Al inicio de la Segunda Guerra Mundial se enroló voluntariamente en las fuerzas aéreas francesas, período que le inspiraría la obra Piloto de guerra (1942). Durante su exilio en Estados Unidos, donde escribió El Principito (1943), solicitó su reincorporación en las fuerzas armadas y desapareció en 1944 mientras realizaba una misión de reconocimiento sobre el mar Mediterráneo, cerca de la costa de Francia.<br>
