Nise and Finea are famous beauties. Their father, Don Otavio, a minor nobleman, is doing his best to marry them off and an exotic collection of determined young suitors are competing for the prizes. Félix Lope de Vega Carpio (1562-1635) fue la voz dominante en el sistema literario español de su tiempo, en el que se labró una imagen de creador omnipotente, con su círculo de adeptos y sin eludir polémicas ni confrontaciones. Extraordinario poeta y escritor prolífico hasta lo inverosímil, cultivó todos los géneros imaginables y en casi todos dejó profunda huella, particularmente en el teatro, con una obra inmensa y una hegemonía en las tablas que se prolongó durante cinco decenios. Desarrolló una paleta dramática amplísima, un repertorio temático y genérico de la mayor variedad y un admirable dominio de la acción y la versificación, méritos que lo convierten en uno de los grandes ingenios teatrales de todos los tiempos.
