Biografía del autor

Hannah Arendt se ha erigido, gracias a su profundo conocimiento del pasado y a sus agudas observaciones sobre el mundo moderno, en uno de los puntos de referencia fundamentales para el conocimiento de la filosofía política. Nacida en Hannover, estudió en Marburgo, Friburgo y Heidelberg, donde se graduó en Filosofía. En 1933, cuando los nazis ocuparon el poder, emigró a París. Más tarde se instaló en Estados Unidos, donde dirigió la Conferencia sobre las Relaciones Judías (1944-1946) y también la Jewish Cultural Reconstruction Inc. Fue catedrática en la Universidad de Chicago y enseñó asimismo en Columbia, Princeton y Berkeley. De su importante obra se han traducido al castellano, entre otras, Los orígenes del totalitarismo, La condición humana, Sobre la revolución, Eichmann en Jerusalén, Hombres en tiempo de oscuridad y Crisis de la República.
