We live in dark times, where people are increasingly getting entrenched in their point of view leading to an escalation of violence, bigotry and racism. But why? We all bleed the same blood and are vastly more alike than we are different. This book, at its heart, is a call to stop the insanity and to remember that kindness, respect and compassionate more than anything is what the world urgently needs right now. Humour and the ability to reframe thinking through a disarming juxtaposition is one of the greatest weapons of humankind. Given that even a simple joke can utilise language skills, theory-of-mind, symbolism, abstract thinking and social perception, humour/reframing is one of our most complex cognitive attributes. It is also surprising, reflexive and it can do more for our mental health than a bottle of pills can. Laughter truly is the best medicine.
