Biografía del autor

Conservacionista y escritor británico. Educado en Oxford, fue profesor de estudios sociales y posteriormente editor en la famosa Penguin Books. En 1974 se convirtió en escritor a tiempo completo, y hoy cuenta con más de treinta títulos a sus espaldas. Paralelamente a su actividad literaria, ha estado involucrado en diversas instituciones públicas. En los años ochenta formó parte del Nature Conservancy Council, un órgano que aconseja al gobierno del Reino Unido. Desde entonces ha sido profesor visitante en Cambridge, fue nombrado miembro de la Real Academia de Literatura y es colaborador frecuente en The Guardian, Granta y la BBC.
