Andres Iniesta was twelve years old when scouts invited him into Barcelona's famous La Masia academy. Shortly after he joined the club, Barca legend Pep Guardiola remarked of him, 'This lad is going to retire us all.' After making his first-team debut at 18, Iniesta became a permanent fixture in the Barcelona midfield, propelling the club to a raft of titles - including an unparalleled six-trophy season in 2009. Along with his Barca teammate Xavi, he has also run the Spain midfield, the pinnacle of his international career coming when he scored the winner against Holland in the 2010 World Cup Final.

Biografía del autor

Andrés Iniesta Luján (Fuentealbilla, 1984) empezó a jugar al fútbol en la pista del colegio de su pueblo. Luego se marchó al Albacete, donde brilló en el torneo de Brunete, captando la atención de los grandes clubes del fútbol español. Con doce años llegó a La Masía, donde asomó al primer equipo azulgrana con apenas dieciséis de la mano de Lorenzo Serra Ferrer. Debutó con Louis van Gaal en 2002 y formó parte del mejor Barça de la historia con Pep Guardiola, conquistando el sextete en 2009 y el triplete con Luis Enrique en 2015. Jugó cuatro Mundiales (Alemania-2006, Sudáfrica-2010, Brasil-2014 y Rusia-2018), y el 11 de julio de 2010, cuando se llegaba al minuto 116, marcó el gol que le dio a la Selección española el primer y único título mundial que posee. Ese gol lo marcamos todos , contó luego tras dedicárselo sobre el césped del Soccer City a Dani Jarque, su amigo fallecido. Posteriormente jugó en el Vissel Kobe y en el Emirates Club.
