De madre sudamericana y padre inglés, Elizabeth Edmondson nació en Chile, fue educada entre la India e Inglaterra y actualmente vive en Oxford, muy cerca de las maravillosas bibliotecas de la ciudad, donde investiga sobre los fascinantes y enigmáticos lugares en los que se desarrollan sus novelas. Sus raíces inglesas se encuentran en el Distrito de los Lagos, de donde procede su familia paterna y donde se inspiró para su primera novela, Cuando el lago se hiela, publicada por Suma de Letras en 2005. La costa italiana de Liguria fue el cautivador marco de su segunda novela, Villa Dante (Suma de Letras, 2007), y de ahí viajó a la Riviera francesa para tejer la preciosa historia de El arte de amar (Suma de Letras, 2011). La campiña inglesa es el elegante y sugerente escenario de Noche y día.
