David Le Breton (1953) es sociólogo y antropólogo, profesor en la Universidad de Estrasburgo y autor de, entre otros libros, Antropología del cuerpo y modernidad, Antropología del dolor o El silencio. Ha publicado también numerosos artículos en revistas y obras colectivas. Es uno de los autores franceses contemporáneos más destacados en estudios antropológicos.
