Biografía del autor

Flora Jane Thompson (Oxfordshire, 1876; Brixham, 1947) fue una novelista y poeta autodidacta, célebre por su Trilogía de Candleford (Hoja de Lata, 2020). En 1938 presentó varios escritos sobre su infancia en la aldea a Oxford University Press, quien publicó, un año más tarde, Colina de las Alondras. A este primer volumen le seguirían, en 1941 y 1943 respectivamente, Camino de Candleford y Candleford Green. Los tres libros juntos se publicarían por primera vez en 1945. Además de escribir numerosos poemas, relatos y artículos sobre naturaleza aparecidos en periódicos y revistas de la época, dos de sus últimas obras se publicaron póstumamente: Heatherley, una secuela de la Trilogía de Candleford (manuscrito de 1944 republicado en 1998), y su última novela, Still Glides the Stream (1948).
