p Mihail Sebastian (Braila, 1907 Bucarest, 1945) fue uno de los grandes intelectuales rumanos del periodo de entreguerras. Miembro del influyente grupo Criterion, convivió con figuras como Mircea Eliade, Emil Cioran y Nae Ionescu, aunque su condición de judío lo situó pronto en los márgenes. Autor de novelas, teatro y ensayos, abordó con lucidez el conflicto de identidad y pertenencia en una Europa fracturada por el antisemitismo. Su obra más polémica, i Desde hace dos mil años /i (1934), incluía un prólogo abiertamente antisemita firmado por su mentor, que Sebastian decidió conservar. Publicó i Cómo me convertí en húligan /i como respuesta a quienes lo acusaron desde todos los frentes. Falleció trágicamente en mayo de 1945, poco antes de la entrada del Ejército Rojo en Bucarest.<br>
