Resumen del libro

EU Cohesion Policy after Enlargement presents the first major comparative study of EU Cohesion policy after the May 2004 enlargement and the 2006 Cohesion policy reform. Enlargement and the 2006 reform represent the biggest challenge to EU Cohesion policy since 1988 and raise important questions about how cohesion policy is being implemented in the 2007-13 programming period. Using a balanced selection of case studies from both old and new member states (Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain, Ireland and Greece; Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania and Romania), this book examines the implementation of Cohesion policy in an enlarged and increasingly differentiated EU. Among the key issues it addresses are how old member states are adjusting to reduced levels of funding and the new Lisbon Agenda-orientation of Cohesion policy, and how new member states that joined in 2004 and 2007 are performing in implementing Cohesion policy.
