Lytton Strachey (1880-1932), iniciado al mundo de las letras en la Universidad de Cambridge donde decidió no ocultar su homosexualidad, que será tan importante en su obra , fue miembro del círculo de Bloomsbury. Es uno de los grandes maestros de la biografía en el siglo XX. En España la publicación de Victorianos eminentes la obra del autor que más gustaba a Sigmund Freud pasó desapercibida. A nadie pareció interesarle ni el libro, ni la biografía, ni la verdadera revolución que implicaba en el arte de la biografía. El mismo nombre del autor no fue conocido, en realidad, hasta la publicación en los años 70 de las obras de Gerald Brenan, principalmente Al Sur de Granada. Renacimiento ha publicado previamente las otras míticas obras de Strachey: La reina Victoria (2019), y también Isabel y Essex (2022).
