(Nueva Zelanda, 1895-1982), escritora y directora teatral, obtuvo importantes reconocimientos en sus cincuenta años de profesión, entre otros, fue nombrada Grand Master por la Mystery Writers of America, Dame Commander, recibió la Orden del Imperio Británico y cosechó además numerosos premios desde que en 1934 viera la luz su primera obra.
