Alessandro Barbero, profesor de Historia Medieval en la Universidad del Piamonte Oriental, es uno de los historiadores italianos más reconocidos en la actualidad. Especializado en historia medieval y militar, ha publicado numerosos ensayos y novelas. En 1998 fue nombrado Caballero de las Artes y las Letras por la Academia Francesa.
