Aristóteles (Grecia, 384 a.C. - 322 a.C.) fue uno de los filósofos más destacados junto con Sócrates y Platón. A los 17 años se trasladó a Atenas para estudiar en la Academia, donde fue alumno y maestro. Fue principalmente discípulo de Platón y profesor de Alejandro Magno en el reino de Macedonia. Años más tarde, creó su propia escuela: el Liceo. Sabemos que la obra de Aristóteles la forman unos 200 tratados, de los que sólo se conservan 31, que examinan una gran variedad de temas: lógica, metafísica, ética, política, estética, retórica, astronomía y biología. Por ello, Aristóteles significa en muchos aspectos el inicio, la innovación y los cimientos de grandes ideas del mundo occidental.
