Cees Nooteboom (La Haya, 1933) es uno de los mayores y más originales escritores holandeses contemporáneos: traductor de poesía española, catalana, francesa, alemana y de teatro americano; autor de novelas, poesía, ensayos y libros de viaje. Su obra, en constante reflexión sobre el europeísmo y el nacionalismo, ha sido traducida a más de veinte idiomas. x{0026}lt;br x{0026}lt;/br Ha obtenido, entre otros reconocimientos, el Premio Europeo Aristeon de Literatura (1993) por x{0026}lt;em La historia siguientex{0026}lt;/em , el Premio Bordewijk (1981), el Premio Pegasus de Literatura (1982), el Premio Grinzane Cavour de Narrativa (1994), la Medalla de Oro del Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid (2003), el Premio Europeo de Poesía (2008), el Premio de Literatura Neerlandesa (2009) y el mayor premio que se concede en la literatura de viajes, el Premio Chatwin (2010), el prestigioso Premio Internacional Mondello (2017) y el Premio Formentor de las Letras 2020.
