(Londres, 1882-Rodmell, Sussex, 1941) es reconocida como una de las escritoras más innovadoras del siglo xx. Autora de La señora Dalloway (1925) y Al faro (1927), fue también una prolífica escritora de ensayos, diarios, cartas y biografías así como una figura fundamental del feminismo, cuya enorme influencia sigue vigente. Educada en un estricto ambiente victoriano, consiguió romper con los cánones y valores establecidos y vivir libremente dedicada a la literatura.
