Biografía del autor

James Joyce nació el 2 de Febrero de 1882 en Dublín (Irlanda), y fue uno de los más grandes escritores del siglo XX. El interés por la lectura y la escritura se le despertó siendo todavía un niño. Más adelante estudió lenguas (inglés, francés e italiano) en el University College de Dublín y formó parte de la Literary and Historical Society de su ciudad. Vivió en Trieste durante diez años periodo durante el que publicó en 1914 "Dublineses", una volumen de cuentos que recibió en general buenas críticas pero que no cosechó apenas ventas. Mientras, Joyce ya había llamado la atención de grandes autores como Yeats y Ezra Pound. La obra magna de este autor irlandés fue "Ulises", ahora convertida en uno de los textos fundamentales de la literatura de todos los tiempos. Es autor de una obra escasa pero importante, como las novelas "Retrato del artista adolescente" y "Finnegans Wake.
