P B Arthur C. Clarke /B (1917-2008) fue un escritor, científico inglés y miembro de la Orden del Imperio Británico. Fue presidente de la Sociedad Interplanetaria Británica, miembro de la Academia Astronáutica, de la Real Sociedad Astronómica, entre otras organizaciones científicas.<br> P En su faceta de escritor, publicó un gran número de libros que han sido traducidos a más de treinta idiomas. En 1961 recibió el Premio Kalinga, otorgado por la Unesco, en reconocimiento a su labor como divulgador científico al gran público. Entre su obra cabe destacar la serie Odisea espacial -formada por I 2001: Una odisea espacial /I (1968), I 2010: Odisea dos /I (1982), I 2061: Odisea tres /I (1987), I 3001: Odisea final /I (1996)-, I Rendez-vous with Rama /I (1972; Premio Nebula, 1973; Premio<br> P Hugo, 1974) y I Cánticos de la lejana tierra /I (1986).<br>
