Gene Luen Yang escribe, y a veces dibuja, cómics y novelas gráficas. Su novela gráfica American Born Chinese, finalista del National Book Award y ganadora del Printz Award, ha sido adaptada a una serie de streaming. Su novela gráfica de no ficción Dragon Hoops recibió un premio Eisner y un Printz Honor.
