JOHN DARNIELLE nació en 1967 en Bloomington, Indiana; aunque pasó su infancia y juventud en California. Es principalmente conocido por ser el compositor, guitarrista y vocalista de The Mountain Goats, banda en activo desde 1991 con la que ha publicado más de seiscientas canciones. Está considerado uno de los mejores letristas americanos de todos los tiempos. Su primera novela, Wolf in White Van (Lobo en la camioneta blanca, Contra, 2015) resultó finalista del National Book Award y el Alex Awards; y el New York Times lo eligió como uno de los mejores libros del año.
