In self-imposed exile after returning home from the war in Vietnam, David Larson meanders into the barren town of Slut's Hole, Wyoming, where a local widow takes him under her wing. After making a sort of home among the town's hardscrabble locals, David grudgingly adopts a young Vietnamese girl abandoned along the highway. This sets in motion a set of tragic turns as Western mythos and frontier justice clash against the tides of a changing world.

Percival Everett es una de las voces más importantes de la literatura contemporánea. Nació en 1956 en Georgia (EE.UU.), licenciado en Filosofía, máster en Literatura. Su voz rompe moldes mediante una extraña mezcla de profundidad de pensamiento y humor salvaje. Su última novela, James, ha sido galardonada con el National Book Award 2024 y el Pulitzer de Ficción 2025, y fue finalista del Booker Prize, del que ya había sido favorito con su anterior novela Los árboles. Ha sido merecedor del Pen en dos ocasiones y la adaptación al cine de su novela Cancelado recibió el Óscar al Mejor Guión Adaptado como American Fiction en 2024.
