Katherine Arden nació en Austin, Texas, aunque ha vivido y estudiado en Rennes, Francia, y en Moscú. Tras licenciarse en Literatura Francesa y en Literatura Rusa por el Middlebury College de Vermont, se mudó a Hawái, donde trabajó en cosas tan dispares como hacer crepes o guiar excursiones a caballo. En la actualidad reside en Vermont y es autora de varios libros, entre los que destaca la trilogía formada por El oso y el ruiseñor (Nocturna, 2019), La chica en la torre (Nocturna, 2022) y El invierno de la bruja (Nocturna, 2023).
