He asks what the meaning and purpose of a Jewish state can be, when the core values of Judaism, with its reverence for the dignity of each human life, are cast aside, and how his people, so accustomed throughout history to being in the minority, have not proved able to exist as a majority with the dignity and humanity that the job demands. Ultimately, Grossman arrives at the most important question of all: Will there ever be a lasting peace in the region?

x{0026}lt;P x{0026}lt;B David Grossmanx{0026}lt;/B nació en 1954 en Jerusalén. Empezó a trabajar en la radio israelí, pero desde 1988 se dedica exclusivamente a la escritura de novelas y ensayos, actividad que compagina con la de articulista para los periódicos más prestigiosos del mundo. Es autor de diversas obras de ficción para adultos, numerosos cuentos para niños, y textos sobre temas políticos y medioambientales. Por su gran talla intelectual y moral, es figura destacada en la lista de candidatos al Premio Nobel y forma parte de un comité que debate la posibilidad de entendimiento entre el pueblo israelí y palestino, misión de la que ni siquiera la muerte de su hijo en combate le ha hecho desistir. Su novela x{0026}lt;I La vida enterax{0026}lt;/I (Lumen, 2010) ganó numerosos galardones.
