Biografía del autor

Al Alvarez (1929-2019), escritor y crítico literario, estudió en Oxford y en su juventud ejerció la enseñanza en Inglaterra y en Estados Unidos. Como crítico, colaboró con medios como i The New Yorker, The Observer /i y i The New York Review of Books. /i Fue autor de varios estudios literarios y de una decena de ensayos sobre temas tan dispares como el divorcio, el póker, la noche, el montañismo i (Alimentar a la bestia) /i y el suicidio i (El dios salvaje). En el estanque. Diario de un nadador, /i publicado en 2013, fue su último libro.
