In the sleepy English village of Midwich, a mysterious silver object appears and all the inhabitants fall unconscious. John Wyndham Parker Lucas Benyon Harris (1903-1969) es un autor clásico británico de ciencia ficción. Probó distintas profesiones como agricultor o marchante de arte antes de dedicarse a escribir relatos detectivescos y de ciencia ficción. Entre sus obras hay títulos imprescindibles como "El día de los trífidos", "Las crisálidas" y "El kraken despierta", que se desarrollan en escenarios postapocalípticos. Algunas de sus novelas, como "Los cuclillos de Midwich" y "Choky" también han dado lugar a versiones cinematográficas igual de inquietantes.
