El profesor Francis S. Collins es uno de los genetistas más importantes del mundo. Dirigió el Instituto Nacional de Investigación del Genoma Humano, en que lideró el exitoso esfuerzo internacional para completar el proyecto del genoma humano, una empresa científica extraordinaria encargada de la cartografía y la secuenciación del ADN humano.
