Katherine Mansfield (Nueva Zelanda, 1888-Francia,1923) fue una gran escritora que quiso trascender los límites de su tiempo y se reveló como una artista de la palabra. Trabajó sus cuentos como artefactos que trascendieran: bien por la temática: el paso del siglo XIX al XX, las consecuencias de la Primera Guerra Mundial, bien por el lenguaje utilizado, sus observaciones precisas, la sutil belleza, la elegancia de su estilo narrativo.
