Biografía del autor

Rachel Carson (1907-1964), bióloga marina por la Universidad Johns Hopkins, enseñó Zoología en la Universidad de Maryland y trabajó para el U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. En Crítica ha publicado Primavera silenciosa (2001), donde nos alertaba del peligro de los pesticidas y sus terribles consecuencias en la Tierra, y El mar que nos rodea (2019), que se ha convertido en un clásico indiscutible de la ecología que nos recuerda la imperiosa necesidad de preservar la naturaleza y la vida en todas sus formas. Sus libros han jugado un importante papel en la puesta en marcha de la conciencia ambiental moderna y en el paso de la ecología de ser solo una materia científica a ser también una materia de interés social.
