Biografía del autor

Pat Parker nació en Houston en 1944, en una familia trabajadora. Obtuvo su licenciatura en Los Ángeles City College y se mudó a la bahía de San Francisco para seguir una carrera como poeta y activista. Se casó dos veces. Tras su segundo divorcio, Parker comenzó a identificarse abiertamente como lesbiana y se convirtió en una referencia en los movimientos de derechos civiles, derechos de las mujeres y derechos de los homosexuales. Formó parte de la comunidad de poesía en California a través de grupos de mujeres entre las décadas de los 70 y 80, Parker basó su trabajo en las tradiciones de la poesía oral, la autobiografía y la política. Murió de cáncer de mama en 1989. Pat Parker fue autora de cinco poemarios: Jonestown x{0026}amp; other madness (1985), Movement in Black (1978), Womanslaughter (1978), Pit Stop (1975) y Child of Myself (1972).
