At a girls' boarding school in Virginia, the pupils lead sheltered lives away from the outside world. When an injured soldier, wounded in the civil war, is found in the woods nearby and taken in to recuperate, the girls immediately fall under the spell of the charming stranger in their midst. But soon his presence unleashes something dark and dangerous in all of them... One of the most anticipated films of the year, The Beguiled will be released by Universal Pictures in the UK on 23rd June and stars Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell and Kirsten Dunst, and is directed by Sofia Coppola (The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation). Early press coverage has drawn attention to the fact that, unlike the 1971 film adaptation starring Clint Eastwood, the novel and new film tell the story from the perspectives of the women at the school.
