Territory of Light is the radiant story of a young woman, living alone in Tokyo with her two-year-old daughter, in her first year of separation from her husband. At once tender and lacerating, luminous and unsettling, Territory of Light is a novel of abandonment, desire and transformation. It was originally published in twelve parts in the Japanese literary monthly Gunzo, between 1978 and 1979, each chapter marking the months in real time, and remains one of Yuko Tsushima's most beloved works.

Biografía del autor

Yuko Tsushima nació en Tokio en 1947. Su padre, el famoso novelista Osamu Dazai, se suicidó cuando la autora solo tenía un año, y eso la marcaría y marcaría su obra. A lo largo de su carrera, obtuvo los más importantes premios de su Japón natal, incluyendo el Noma Literary Prize o el Izumi Kyoka Prize. Fue considerada por The New York Times como una de las más importantes escritoras de su generación . Heredera confesa de Faulkner y Tennessee Williams, adorada por Margaret Drabble o Angela Carter, es autora de títulos como El hijo predilecto (1978), La galería de tiro y otras historias (1973-1984) o Territorio de luz (1979, publicada por Impedimenta en 2020). Falleció en febrero de 2016 en Tokio.
