Satish Kumar (Dungargarh, India, 9 de agosto, 1936) ex monje jainista, pensador y orador. Ha sido durante las últimas cuatro décadas editor de Resurgence x{0026}amp; Ecologist, una revista que aborda asuntos sociales y espirituales vinculados al medioambiente. Kumar es fundador y director del Schumacher College x{0026} x02014;centro internacional para estudios de ecologíax{0026} x02014; y de The Small Schoolx{0026} x02014;escuela para niños de 11 a 16 años en la que se fomentan actividades como yoga, fotografía, cocina, artesanías y otros oficios. Kumar es un claro defensor de la naturaleza y de la no violencia para con todos los seres vivos, como lo atestigua su Marcha por la paz en la que recorrió más de doce mil kilómetros a pie y sin dinero para invitar a cuatro líderes políticos de las potencias nucleares a tomarse un segundo y beber una taza de té antes de tomar una decisión que pueda cambiar el curso de la historia mundial.
