A plane crashes on a desert island.
The only survivors are a group of schoolboys.

Soon though, as the boys' fragile sense of order begins to collapse, their fears start to take on a sinister, primitive significance.
Suddenly, the world of cricket, homework and adventure stories seems a long way away.
The boys are faced with a more pressing reality - survival - and the appearance of a terrifying beast who haunts their dreams.

Biografía del autor

Nació en Reino Unido en 1911. Fue un brillante escritor inglés dedicado en sus inicios a la poesía. En 1952 se decidió por la prosa; su primera novela, El Señor de las Moscas (1954), finalmente obtuvo un éxito rotundo y se convirtió en uno de los libros más leídos de la literatura contemporánea. Falleció en Cornualles en 1993.
