Percival Everett nació en Georgia (EE.UU) en 1957. Ha escrito treinta libros. En España ha sido publicado No soy Sidney Poitier. Pertenece a esa clase de autores no comerciales, muy valorado por la crítica por su originalidad y su voz satírica. Vive en Los Ángeles y es Catedrático en la University of Southern California. Ha ganado el premio Pen Club de Estados Unidos y el de la Academia Americana de las Artes y las Letras entre otros muchos.
