Algernon Henry Blackwood (Londres, 1869-1951) era hijo de un modesto empleado administrativo del servicio postal del Reino Unido. A lo largo de su vida residió en Inglaterra, Alemania, Rusia, Canadá y Estados Unidos, desempeñando diversas ocupaciones.
