Chad Orzelnació y creció en Nueva York. Se licenció en física en el Williams College y se doctoró en Física y Química en la Universidad de Maryland. En la actualidad, es profesor del Departamento de Física y Astronomía en el Union College de Schenectady de Nueva York.
