Mai Corland es una abogada y escritora coreano-estadounidense nacida en Seúl y criada en Nueva York. Tras eso, huyó del invierno y estudió en Florida en el Rollins College y en la Universidad de Miami. Debido a una serie de decisiones cuestionables, ha vuelto a vivir en mitad del frío con su pareja, sus hijos y un pez dorado que vivirá más que todos ellos.
