x{0026}lt;p John Julius Norwich (1929-2018) estudió en el New College de Oxford y, en 1952, entró en el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, donde fue destinado a las embajadas inglesas en Belgrado y Beirut. Participó en la delegación británica de la Conferencia de Desarme de Ginebra. En 1964, abandonó su carrera diplomática para dedicarse a escribir.
