Guy Montag is a fireman. His job is to burn books, which are forbidden, being the source of all discord and unhappiness. Even so, Montag is unhappy; there is discord in his marriage.

L'escriptor nord-americà Ray Bradbury (Waukegan, Illinois, 1920 - Los Angeles, 2012) ha estat autor de novel-la curta i d'assaig, dramaturg, guionista i poeta, i va escriure dos clàssics de ciència ficció: Fahrenheit 451, una crítica mordaç de la censura en un món que té prohibida la paraula, i Les cròniques marcianes, sobre uns primers intents terrestres de colonitzar Mart, de conseqüències inesperades.Un dels més grans i famosos escriptors nord-americans, en part responsable de l'imaginari col-lectiu que la gent del segle XX es va fer sobre el segle XXI.
